To recognize Weizenbaum\u2019s work, I thought that ELIZA deserves a place here, alongside other plugins.<\/p>\n<h4>Technical Details<\/h4>\n<p>This plugin functions offline and maintains user privacy by not collecting any data. It\u2019s based on the original \u2018ELIZA\u2019 script, as published in Weizenbaum\u2019s 1966 paper \u201cELIZA \u2013 A Computer Program For the Study of Natural Language Communication Between Man and Machine\u201d.<\/p>\n<h4>Personal Motivation<\/h4>\n<p>I also have a personal motivation for building this app. The German version of ELIZA was the first chatbot I\u2019ve encountered in the \u201990s. The limitations of ELIZA inspired me to develop a program that truly understands the user, rather than merely simulating understanding. This experience laid the foundation for my own project, which I started in 1996, and it has shaped my R&D career in AI.<\/p>\n<h4>AI for Personal Development<\/h4>\n<p>In 2023, I discovered a new avenue that allows me to combine my desire to help people grow with my interest in developing conversational AI as an experimental means to study the human mind and psychology.
